In fact, there are four monuments to the heroes of the novel "12 chairs" in Kharkov. The monument to the hero of the famous novels of Ilf and Petrov, Ostap Bender, was opened for the City Day in 2005. The "grand strategist" cast in bronze sat down on a bronze bench set in front of the restaurant entrance. He willingly flaunts for a photo: next to him is a free space where you can sit down and take a picture with him as a keepsake. With relish, he took a drag on his cigarette and stayed there forever.

Not far from him Ippolit Matveyevich Vorobyaninov froze in a sculptural image. It was he, according to the idea of the authors of the novel "The Twelve Chairs", in the company of the "son of a Turkish citizen" who searched for the treasures hidden in the furniture set. "Poor" Ippolit Matveyevich, standing in the courtyard of the cafe, begs for alms.

And very soon, a year later, the day of laughter in the city was marked by the opening of a monument to the unforgettable Elochka the cannibal, leaning at ease on the legendary chair. Her sculpture is installed near the bronze incarnation of Ostap Bender.

Father Fyodor, who lagged behind the train, somewhat "fought off the company". For more than a decade, he has been meeting and seeing off guests of the city on the platform of the railway station. The bronze figure, mounted on a marble pedestal, was modeled with M. Pugovkin, who performed the image of Fyodor's father in the popular film adaptation of the novel. The unlucky priest holds in one hand a kettle of boiling water, which is why he did not catch the train, and in the other - a message for Mother Katerina Alexandrovna, composed at the Kharkov railway station. A few lines from this letter, containing Fyodor Ivanych's impressions of Kharkov, embossed on a pedestal.

Thus, the cheerful and resourceful residents of Kharkov decided to remind everyone that Ilf and Petrov began their creative activities in their hometown.
