The Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts is Western Australia's premier venue for fine arts exhibitions and cultural performances. Located in a building of cultural and historical value, PICA serves to promote contemporary art to the masses. The building, built in 1896, during the first 40 years of its history was a city school for boys and girls, then a school for boys only (until 1958), part of a technical school and finally, in 1988, it became an exhibition center.

Throughout the year, PICA hosts a variety of events - exhibitions, performances, film screenings, presentations and much more. It also implements educational programs designed to strengthen the relationship between art and the public. Today, PICA plays a key role in the public cultural life of Perth, helping artists at various stages of their careers.
