Falconara Marittima is a small town on the Adriatic coast of Italy, 9 km north of Ancona, the capital of the Italian Marche region. Its main attraction is the long sandy beach, which is filled with holidaymakers during the warmer months, who can play beach volleyball, tennis and soccer.

Falconara grew up around a castle built between the 7th and 12th centuries and acquired in the second half of the 16th century by the noble Bourbon del Monte family. They owned the castle until the 19th century. Falconara Castle, together with Rocca Priora and Castelferretti, was part of the defensive system built around Ancona.

Today Falconara is primarily a resort town. Winter is quite cold here due to the bora - an icy wind blowing along the coast. From April to June, the weather is warm and pleasant with moderate humidity. And July and August are the hottest months - temperatures rise above 30oC.

Among the attractions of Falconara, in addition to the aforementioned castle, one can note the zoo, spread over an area of 6 hectares, the Cormorano Park, located in the northern part of the city, Villa Monte Domini, built on a hill at the beginning of the 16th century, the Church of Santa Maria della Misericordia from the 15th century with interesting frescoes and a Franciscan library entirely dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi. The castle of Castelferretti, built in 1384-1386, was erected by order of Francesco Ferretti, and Rocca Priora was the stronghold of the locals to defend against the invasion of enemies from the north. In 1756, the Marquis of Trionfi restored the castle and adapted it for living, and today Rocca Priora is considered one of the best preserved castles in Ancona.
