At the foot of Bjelasica, where the Tara River begins, the town of Kolasin is located. It is considered the youngest city of Montenegro against the background of others. Despite this fact, the history of the city is steeped in heroism and the spirit of resistance - Kolasin was occupied by the Turks for a long time.

The city, as you can see it today, was originally only the environment of a guard fortress belonging to the Turks. Then, in the middle of the 17th century, the city got its name, which dates back to the Turkish "kolazi" - the commander in charge of the military garrison. The city was liberated from the Turks only at the end of the 19th century, after which the emigration of Muslims followed.

It was these historical milestones that were reflected in the expositions of the Kolashin Museum of Local Lore. Here tourists and locals are invited to learn about the history of the city, about the most important transformations that he went through during his, albeit short, but tragic history. Visitors can view rich ethnographic, historical and art collections.

Today the city is also a popular ski resort in Montenegro, where ecological and ski tourism is actively developing. Kolasin receives foreign investment, which is used to build new hotels and establishments, as well as other tourist facilities. At the height of the tourist season, the city looks very lively with restaurants, bars and nightclubs.
