Photo and description

The Nikolai Parapunov Museum is a historical museum that was opened in Razlog in 1957. It is located on the street "September 15, 1903" and is part of the houses assigned to architectural monuments.

The appearance of a museum in the city was planned since 1954, when the Parapunov house was bought. In the same year, a museum worker was appointed to be responsible for the renovation of the building and the preparation of the exhibition. Since its official opening in 1957, the museum has been named after Nikolai Parapunov. It is known that this building, built at the turn of the XVIII-XIX centuries, burned down during the uprising in 1903 and was restored according to the old plan only in 1905.

Major repairs and reconstruction of the building were carried out in 1984-1985 with money donated by the renowned charity figure of Razlog - Astinov. A place to store donations has appeared in the building next to Parapunov, for which it is planned to build an exhibition hall, office space and a shop.

The building was built in the architectural style typical of the late 19th century - it is considered a continuation of the so-called “symmetrical house” style ". Such a structure first appeared in Plovdiv after the middle of the 19th century.

The Nikola Parapunov Museum until 2000 continued to work as a memorial museum of the Parapunov family, where an exposition about the partisan movement in Bulgaria was also shown. However, the museum was subsequently restructured by the decision of the Municipal Council of the Historical Museum of Razlog.
