Photo and description

7 kilometers from Fira (Thira), in the northeastern part of Santorini island, is the Vourvoulos spit. This sandy beach with clear turquoise water is a wonderful place with an atypical microclimate.

Vourvoulos beach is not the most popular and famous in Santorini, it is completely isolated, which contributes to privacy and relaxation from the hustle and bustle of life. It should be borne in mind that it is very windy here, so sunbathing without a canopy can be dangerous.

Due to the constant strong wind, the sea is often stormy, the waves are huge, take this fact into account when choosing the time to travel to Vourvoulos, and stop at a safe distance from the surf line. Vourvoulos beach is more suitable for picnics and walks along the coast away from civilization.
